Just got home from this day at Peace & Love. Kind of a slow start, but it was nice (if you forget about the weather). I saw Rootvälta, Julian Casablancas, Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine and Mika. Rootvälta kinda sucked actually, but it was kinda fun to see them again. I think it was at least 20 years since the last time. Julian Casablancas was ok, but he was a bit too bored and really didn't seem to want to be there. Mika was charming but he's not really my kind of music. Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine however blew me away with an awesome performance. What an entertainer!
Tomorrow it's time for Taylor Mali, Devendra Banhart & The Grogs, NOFX, Alice in Chains, Them Crooked Vultures and Robyn.

Review: It's good to see that in some vampire movies, vamps still catches fire in the sun. Not like in that Twilight crap.

Gallows - Misery
Gallows. One of the groups I really look forward seeing @ Peace & Love next week. Will get more in to that in a few days.
The Tudors
I just watched the last episode of The Tudors. A bit sad that it's over now. I loved the first season. The second and the third then had lower quality in my eyes, but this last season it was back to strength again. I will miss it a bit.

Until the Light Takes Us
Until the Light Takes Us
Review: A really good documentary about the history of Norwegian black metal and the ideology and the aesthetics surrounding it. Way better than any I've seen before. I think it's a movie that would interest even people not into the music, but that is curious about a sub genre that has been shrouded by myths and speculations.

Serenity
Serenity
Review: After watching all episodes of Firefly, I've now sunk my teeth into the movie Serenity. If you liked Joss Wheadons show, then you should like the movie. If you however are a stranger to Firefly, I don't think you will find Serenity very interesting. A bit of a flick for the already converted.

The Book of Eli
The Book of Eli
Review: When it comes to the action itself, this post apocalyptic movie with Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman is quite watchable. But the right wing storyline itself that says that the Bible is the saviour of the world is really quite nauseating. Or as one critic said: At last, an action movie even the Pope can love.

Kristoff Krane - Hunting for Father
I've been following Kristoff Krane these last couple of years. First as a member of Face Candy and Abzorbr, and then as a solo artist. He's done some good stuff, but nothing that really got me going too much. This spring he's released 2 solo albums, Hunting for Father and Picking Flowers Next to Roadkill. Both are really good, but I must say that Hunting for Father is the better one. You'll need to check it out!

Ben: Diary of a Heroin Addict
Ben: Diary of a Heroin Addict
Review: You have to see this one! This documentary is about Ben, a heroin addict and his last 2 years alive. What's interesting is that it basically consists exclusively by his own filming. It's a very captivating and strong documentary that really shows the brutal truth about heroin abuse.

Youth in Revolt
Youth in Revolt
Review: Sure. Everyone thinks that Michael Cera is really charming when he's playing the awkward young teen that is both geeky and sensitive. I do too. But how many roles like that can he really play? Here he's doing that role again in the movie version of C D Paynes books about Nick Twisp. Sure, it's a bit charming and sweet, but it's also quite boring really.

Review: Second movie today by documentary film director Doug Pray. He did Hype! and the superb movie Scratch. Here's a film about truck drivers. It might sound really boring, but it is actually quite captivating. And with a soundtrack from Buck 65 you can't really go wrong.
