Review: Anton Corbijns movie The American got some attention here in Sweden since some of the scenes are filmed here. The articles in the papers however failed to mention that the movie itself was quite boring. Which it is.

Gbg 2001-2010

Well. Today is the day. At a couple of times during the existence of this blog I've mentioned the idea of me moving away from Gothenburg and back to my so called roots. I have been thinking about this for a couple of years now, off and on. Today it happens. I'm leaving Gothenburg after 9 years here and moving back to the town I grew up in, Hedemora. I have to say it feels a bit weird, but hopefully everything will be fine once I get into it all. I will of course miss Gothenburg and some of its population a lot. But I'm also happy to get away from parts of the town and some of its population. But who knows? I might be back some day. I will at least visit quite frequently to hang with my friends. That's it for the personal part right now. Here on beats, breaks & big smiles 2.0 nothing will change because of the move so it's business as usual.

Just found out that Drunken Arseholes are back with a new album, Fight Death. I've kind of forgotten about them, but got happy by the news and began listening to their old record Rural Pimps that I listened to quite a bit in like 2006. I really should be busy packing today since I'm moving on Saturday. So of course I'm doing everything except that. At the moment I'm watching old episodes of Angel, thinking about starting up some kind club-esque thing after my move and finally thinking about which albums that will be on this years top ten list. I don't know why I'm babbling on about this. I was just going to post this video by Moshe. Well, that's it for now.

The Walking Dead S01E01

I couldn't contain myself any longer, so this morning I watched the leaked first episode of the show The Walking Dead. As I've mentioned earlier I'm a big fan of Robert Kirkmans graphic novel and I was really happy when I found out that they were going to make a television series about it. And now it's here. And what can I say? I love it. But how could I not. I mean, it's about zombies! It also follows the novel really well when it needs to and changes a bit where it doesn't. All in all, I will follow this show closely and happily.

Review: Ok. So it didn't take me more than 3 days from my change of heart to actually seeing The Social Network. I saw a kind of crappy cam version of it, but hey, it's no big action movie with a lot of special effects in it. I won't bother to go into what the movie is all about, because if you don't know. Well, then you must have been sleeping under a rock. But I can help you by saying one word: Facebook.
So how was it? Better than I expected, but not as good as the reviews are claiming. Glad however to see Jesse Eisenberg playing someone who is not all the way through sympathetic. Do you need to see it? Well, if you have no idea about the history of Facebook, then maybe you'll find it a bit more interesting than I did.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

Review: Gordon Gekko. The personification of the 80's moneygreed. I know I really dug the original movie from 1987 when it came out. i especially liked Michael Douglas portrayal of Mr. Gekko. I saw it again a few weeks back and it was still ok. So now I had to sit down to watch the sequal Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Michael Douglas is back and so is the director Oliver Stone. Amongst the other cast we see names such as Shia LeBeouf, Josh Brolin, Carey Mulligan and personal favourite Frank Langella. All in all a way better cast than the one on the original movie. So how was the film then? Well, it was well worth watching, mostly because of Michael Douglas, but it never really comes up to the same level as the movie from 1987. The world that they are describing is no longer cool and unreachable, but more of fastpaced movie as all others nowadays. Still good though.

I remember when I first saw the trailer to The Social Network. It felt kind of like a bad joke and I swore never to see it. But ok, I admit. I have changed my mind. I guess I have to see it soon. I get back to you with the review.

Review: There are a couple of actors that I get happy just by seeing them. Steve Buscemi is one example and John Malkovich another. Irish comedian Dylan Moran is also one of the ones I always enjoy watching. So seeing a movie starring the later makes me feel good. And after having a couple of really hectic days I felt that I deserved to treat myself by watching A Film with Me in It. I'm sad to say though that the movie was quite bad to be honest. Dylan was the only thing saving it from being total crap, but still. Not much to see here.

Review:  What better way to spend a Friday morning than to watch an action movie with Bruce Willis? I might sound a bit sarcastic, and I am. But not totally. I was simply in the mood of something basic and then this movie adaptation of the comic book Red was just the medicine. And with other actors such as Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren, Red was actually an ok watch.

New video from Sage Francis latest album LI(F)E. The song is co-written by Mark Linkous, the former singer of Sparklehorse, who so tragically took his own life earlier this year.

Cloudy October - The Aviator is Dead

Sometimes you just stumble across something that you like without even trying. Just this morning I saw the video to Cloudy Octobers song Lowerface. I really liked the beat and the song itself was alright. Nice then to find out that the EP The Aviator is Dead is available as a free download. So if you like the video below you can go here and download the EP. I haven't had the time to check it out for myself yet, but I will.
