Video Game Invasion: The History of a Global Obsession

Video Game Invasion: The History of a Global Obsession

Review: Yet another videogame documentary. I guess most of it's because I've seen a lot of them lately, but this one is kind of boring.

Vinnie Paz - Season of the Assassin (review)

Vinnie Paz - Season of the Assassin

I've been a fan of Jedi Mind Tricks for years. At the first glance it must seem kind of weird if you know me and now what kind of hip-hop I usually listen to. Not a lot of guns and violence there. JMT however is full of violent imagery as well as machisimo. So why do I like it so much? Well, it all comes down to the comibiantion of amazing productions by Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind and the honest straight to the point lyrics by Vinnie Paz. Vinnie also has one of my favourite voices in music.
So when I found out that Vinnie was going to release a solo album I was both happy and a bit apprehensive. I looked forward to hearing him do his thing all over again, but was not sure what to expect since Stoupe was not doing any of the productions on the album.
Season of the Assassin, who was originally called Assassin's Creed, has now leaked a couple of weeks before it's release and what do I think of it? I love it! All my fears when it comes to the productions was squashed almost immediately. Producers such as Sicknature, Madlib, Da Beatminerz and Lord Finesse have all come up with great beats that really goes well with Vinnies style. I won't get tired of Season of the Assassin anytime soon.

Rating: 3.5/5

End of May

I was going to write the promised review of Vinnie Paz album Season of the Assassin today. I might still do that, but something else has come up that actually sounds like more fun. My friend Sanna have a literary blog called Läserskan which I always find a treat to read. And now she's asked me to answer some questions regarding books and reading to be posted at her blog. So today that's what I'm going to do. That, and listen to Yelawolf, watching Video Game Invasion and reading Skinheads by John King. Life as usual that is.

Fish Tank

Fish Tank

Review: Finally got around to see this flick. Well worth watching, but not all that it's cranked up to be.

The Pacific

I just watched the last episode of The Pacific. I had been looking forward to this show since I first heard about it. I totally loved Band of Brothers and couldn't wait to see the pacific version. And it was good. But it never really got close to Band of Brothers. Had a lot to live up to though. And Åke, you will get both series this summer.

I Kina Spiser De Hunde

I Kina Spiser De Hunde

Review: After many years I finally got around watching this movie. What is there to say then? Well, both Blinkende Lygter and Brødre (all three movies written by Anders Thomas Jensen) is way better than this one. This one is just stupid. In a no fun kind of way.

Dez & Nobs - Kat Von D

The latest video from Dez & Nobs amazing album Rocky Dennis.

Epicly Later'd John Cardiel

Review: Documentary about skater John Cardiel. Never heard of him before seeing this, but it's a really fun watch. Or as people say, that dude is totally narly!

The Man Who Souled the World

The Man Who Souled the World

Review: A documentary about Steve Rocco, the man who transformed the skateboard industry from corporate to skater owned with a do-it-yourself punk attitude. He is the one who gave Spike Jonze his first directing work, he founded World Industries, he discovered Jason Lee and founded Big Brother Magazine (who later spawned Jackass). Really interesting and entertaining documentary even if you're not really into skateboarding at all.

Chasing Ghosts: Beyond The Arcades

Chasing Ghosts: Beyond The Arcades

Review: I had to listen to good old Kristian once more and check out Chasing Ghosts: Beyond The Arcades too. I was perhaps not as warm and captivating as The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, but really interesting and more in-depth than the former.

The King of Kong - A Fistful of Quarters

The King of Kong - A Fistful of Quarters

Review: My friend Kristian recommended this movie to me. And I'm glad he did. It's a great documentary about the top Donkey Kong players in the world. Sounds geeky? Well it is, but is also a very good documentary regardless if you ever played the game or not.
