Restrepo

Restrepo

Review: It's been a while now since I last saw a good documentary, so I was looking forward to seeing Restrepo since I knew that it had won the documentary prize at Sundance. Restrepo shows a platoon of American soldiers during one year in Korengal Valley, Afghanistan. The documentary is very good, and interesting in the way that it's made. The cameras never leave the valley, no interviews are made with high ranking military officials or civilian experts. It shows, straight up and down, what the life is like for these men during their time at one of the most dangerous deployments in the American military. I like that there was no talk of whether war is good or bad. It just shows of a bit about life during war.
